
One of the most spectacular scenes in Taos is from the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge. At some 600 feet above the river, standing on the bridge offers vast views of the sky, mesa, river, mountains and gorge.
On this particular day, the late afternoon sun was in the west, the sky full of brilliant white clouds, which allowed just one shaft of sunlight to illuminate the east side of the gorge wall. It was the most memorable display of nature I had seen here—worthy of a painting!
